In response to the alarming situation caused by the coronavirus, clusters and their members are joining forces to provide support.
After learning about the need for protective face shields at Kaunas Clinics, Health Technology Cluster iVita member Robotikos mokykla began consultations and took action. Engineers and scientists from Hong Kong, Italy, Colombia, Serbia, and, of course, Lithuania contributed their expertise.
Volunteers gathered in the Gedimino Legion group quickly joined efforts and helped solve emerging issues in real time.
Together with surgeon Nikas Samuolis, two face shield holder designs were improved. One can be fully laser-cut, while the other can be 3D printed. In just a few hours, 3D Creative scanned, designed, recreated, and improved the shape of an existing product — a glasses frame for the shield.
Robotikos mokykla managed to achieve a production cost more than twice lower than the market price.
