On April 27, 2023, the final event of the Health Tech Accelerator took place, where 15 teams presented their ideas. Held on Medical Workers’ Day, the final event of the first programme of its kind in Lithuania brought together doctors, nurses, startup representatives, and innovation enthusiasts. The Health Tech Accelerator impressed participants with a remarkable number of strong ideas, the talents of medical professionals and nurses, and impressive prizes.
During the programme, Health Tech Accelerator participants not only gained competencies in areas such as innovation development, product development, health data management, and investment attraction, but also worked in teams to identify and develop solutions for challenges in the healthcare sector. During the event, the best ideas of the 15 finalists were presented, with the expert jury evaluating each of them by asking the key question: would I invest my own money in this idea?
The teams presented a wide range of innovative ideas for solving healthcare sector challenges — from personalized medicine to prevention-focused solutions. Three teams were selected as the best. Third place went to the Wosome team, which proposed AI-personalized food supplements for women based on the menstrual cycle.
Second place was awarded to My Stoma, a unique idea offering a digital solution for stoma patients. The solution would allow both patients and healthcare professionals to access and manage information about stoma care, changes, and related visits directly on a mobile phone. The first-place winners were the Innosensus team, which developed innovative gluten indicators – biosensors that are ten times faster than those currently available on the market.
The biggest surprise of the event was the first-place prize, established by Baltic Sandbox Ventures: participation in an incubation programme and a EUR 15,000 grant for product development.
2AM awarded additional prizes to teams with the greatest commercial potential. One of them was the MedWise team, developing an AI-based solution for people with diabetes. Diana Vertelkienė, Head of Health Technology Cluster iVita, supported this team and shared her advice with them until the final.
The Health Tech Accelerator aims to bring together health and technology enthusiasts to jointly build Lithuania’s health technology ecosystem and initiate and implement much-needed innovations.
