iVita cluster: a success story of innovation and international cooperation

13 years of innovation, cooperation, and breakthrough in health technologies

The iVita cluster, established in 2011, has been successfully operating in the health technology sector for more than 13 years, bringing together 34 members and creating added value in Lithuania and beyond. The cluster grew out of existing cooperation initiatives in areas such as rehabilitation, smart textiles, and workplace wellness.

Areas of activity and innovative products

iVita cluster members develop products and services that meet the highest quality standards. In the field of rehabilitation, for example, Ortopedijos technika introduced functional orthopaedic insoles and lightweight carbon fibre orthoses this year. In the health technology sector, Vilimed developed the unique non-invasive Vilimball device, which helps reduce the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, while Zive created a smart Holter monitor for heart rhythm monitoring.

In biotechnology, Bioremedium stands out with solutions for chronic wound treatment, while Fitodenta offers alternatives for post-operative oral care. In the field of functional food, innovative products such as collagen bars have also been developed.

International cooperation

The iVita cluster actively cooperates with health technology and medical clusters in many countries, including BIOVIA in Belgium, Clust-ER Health in Italy, the Connected Health and Wellbeing Cluster in Ireland, the ROHEALTH cluster in Romania, The Hellenic BioCluster (HBIO) and The Hellenic Digital Health Cluster (HDHC) in Greece, Medicluster in Hungary, and the Digital Health and Innovation Cluster (DHI) in Bulgaria. Each year, the cluster’s network expands through various initiatives and joint activities that contribute to international project implementation and attracting funding.

Strategic directions

The cluster’s strategy focuses on promoting innovation, expanding the community, and developing members’ competencies. Significant attention is also given to increasing the cluster’s international visibility, contributing to policy development, and supporting green technology solutions.

Cooperation with Enterprise Europe Network

iVita has been cooperating with the Enterprise Europe Network for several years. This partnership has contributed to the cluster’s international recognition, helped establish new contacts, and supported the implementation of successful projects. One of the results is nearly EUR 1 million in European funding allocated to the activities of cluster members.

Future plans

Looking ahead, the iVita cluster aims to further develop healthcare innovation, invest in green technologies, and strengthen international relations. The activities of cluster members are focused on sustainability and innovative solutions that create added value not only for business but also for society.

This is an excellent example of how cooperation, innovation, and a strong strategy can become the foundation for success, enabling the development of products recognised both in Lithuania and abroad.
