Ortopedijos technika participated in the largest international orthopaedic industry exhibition and world congress, OTWorld 2018, where the company met with partners, established new contacts, presented its latest developments, and explored global trends in the production of orthopaedic technical devices.
The orthopaedics and rehabilitation technology exhibition, held on May 15–18 in Leipzig, Germany, brought together more than 570 companies from 43 countries, attracted 21,400 visitors from over 90 countries, and featured presentations by 320 speakers from 32 countries.

This leading industry event brings together doctors, orthopaedic technicians, engineers, and other orthopaedic industry experts from around the world every two years. Participants share professional experience and work together to find even more modern and effective solutions to orthopaedic challenges.
“OTWorld is a collective work of art: for four days, experts from around the world come together to improve the provision of assistive devices globally. What is especially encouraging is that this exhibition clearly reminds us what lies at the heart of our work — the human being. This is why we learn our craft, improve our qualifications, and share our knowledge face to face with colleagues from all professions,” noted Klaus-Jürgen Lotz, President of the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology.
Across all areas of orthopaedics – orthoses, prostheses, orthopaedic footwear, rehabilitation, and compression therapy – process digitalisation and 3D printing remain key trends. These topics were discussed not only in congress sessions but were also presented at many exhibition stands.
“A very important advantage of exhibitions is that they offer something that is particularly lacking today — live communication, which is truly more effective and helps not only to establish contact but also to achieve concrete results faster,” said Edita Aleknavičiūtė, Export Manager at Ortopedijos technika.
“Our stand was visited by representatives from 32 countries. The geography was truly broad — most visitors came from Germany, followed by representatives from Russia, the United Kingdom, Israel, and others. It was also pleasant to receive new contacts from countries such as Brazil, Argentina, the United States, and Australia. Among the product groups that attracted the greatest interest were orthoses made using PrePreg technology, complex custom orthopaedic footwear, and shoe insoles,” said E. Aleknavičiūtė.
“During the exhibition, we held 85 conversations with existing and potential customers. Now comes the hard and patient work, and then we will wait for the results.”
The next OTWorld exhibition and congress in Leipzig will take place on May 12–15, 2020.
